Dolphins Host USMMA In Final Home Contest Of 2026

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent fell to a strong United States Merchant Marine Academy squad on Saturday afternoon by the score of 17-2 in the team's latest Skyline Conference contest. The game also served as the final one played on Marillac Field this season, and the final home game for seniors Divana Carrillo, Ella Meberg, Sofia Marcos, Arianna Morales and Makenna Reekie

The loss put the Dolphins at 2-4 in conference play.

UMSV got on the board early in the first quarter, as AB Burnett finished a feed from Ella Meberg to cut into an early two goal deficit. USMMA, however, responded with a dominant offensive stretch, scoring six unanswered goals in the opening quarter and continuing that momentum into the second to build an 11-1 lead at halftime.

The Dolphins continued to battle in the second half, with Isabelle Gurley finding the back of the net in the third quarter for the Dolphins' second goal of the game. Despite the effort, USMMA maintained control throughout, adding to its lead in both the third and fourth quarters to secure the victory.

Burnett, Meberg and Gurley all registered points in the contest, while goalkeeper Makenna Reekie made 16 saves with a team-high six ground balls. Burnett and Brittany Boyle tied for a team-best two caused turnovers while Gurley led the way with three draw controls.

The Dolphins will finish out their season on the road with playoffs in sight. They're next scheduled to take on Maritie College on Wednesday.
