Dolphins Take One Of Two From Baruch

New Rochelle, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent split a doubleheader with Baruch on Tuesday afternoon, bouncing back in game two after a difficult opener. The split put UMSV at 9-20 on the year, with only Skyline Conference contests left on the 2026 slate.

The Dolphins were held off the scoreboard in game one, resulting in a 9-0 loss. Baruch jumped out early with a three-run first inning and continued to add on, using a big third inning to extend the lead. Despite opportunities, UMSV couldn't generate offense as Baruch controlled the game from start to finish. The positives on offense came from Emma Capozucca and Carmen Henderson, who were the lone Dolphins to reach base by hits.

Game two told a completely different story, as the Dolphins' bats came alive in a 7-5 victory. UMSV wasted no time getting on the board, with Kaitlyn Trigos driving in a run before Miralba Sandez launched a three-run home run to give the Dolphins an early cushion. The offense continued to produce, as Samantha Aviles added an RBI walk and Paige Staley came through with a two-run double in the fourth to extend the lead.

Baruch made things interesting late, trimming the deficit to two runs, but UMSV held on to secure the win.

Capozucca and Sandez led the way with two hits each while Staley reached base three times (two walks, one hit). Lily Walsh impressed out of the bullpen, shutting down the Bearcats over the last 3.2 innings of the game. The freshman allowed just one run on one hit with three strikeouts over that span.

The Dolphins are set to make up their Sunday rain out on Thursday against Manhattanville.
