Bronx, NY - The end result wasn't what the Dolphins wanted, but a personal feat was a cause for celebration.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent fell to the University of Hartford 12-1 on Sunday afternoon, bringing their record to 0-2 in the early going of the 2026 season.
Will Granata, however, stole the headlines for UMSV. The senior reached the 100 career hit mark in the third inning, adding another notch to his impressive collegiate career with the Dolphins. Granata reached base three times on Sunday, adding two walks to his stat line.
Six different Dolphins registered hits, with graduate student
Stephen Marinez leading the charge with two in four at-bats. In addition to Granata and Marinez,
Kyle Brindisi,
Andrew Farina,
John Anthony Spanoudakis and
Zach Turko were also in the hit column.
Turko, a 2025 All-Conference selection, drove in UMSV's lone run in the top half of the ninth inning with an RBI triple.
Granata earned the start for head coach Matt Rienzi and put together a four inning, three strikeout performance, where he allowed just one run and two hits.
The Dolphins will look to capture their first win on Wednesday against CCNY.
