Dolphins Fall Short In Comeback Attempt Against FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent showed resiliency on the road on Wednesday evening but came up short in a 13-10 loss to FDU-Florham. The Dolphins showcased grit, resilience and offensive firepower throughout the second half as the team continues to put things together and gear up for Skyline play. 

UMSV is now 0-3 to start their season. 

Freshman Thomas Vallely led the Dolphins' offense with a standout four goal performance, consistently creating scoring chances and finishing around the cage. Sophomore Sam Hall continued his hot start to the year with a hat trick, while classmate Nigel Walker impressed with two goals and two assists. Both Chai Dunlap and Isaac Parsons did a strong job setting up their teammates with three assists each. 

The defense was paced by Brandon Mestres, who had six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Miguel Cordero tied Mestres for the team lead in caused turnovers as well. 

Faceoffs continued to be a strength for the Dolphins. The team went 17-26 as a whole against the Devils, with Alfred Lamptey leading the charge with 12 wins in 17 chances to go along with 11 ground balls. Goalkeeper Max Mills recorded 13 saves in net. 

UMSV fell into an early hole and trailed by four at the mid way point, but it was then when they began their comeback attempt. The Dolphins outscored FDU 6-5 in the second half, including a four goal stretch to close out the contest that put them within three goals. Despite coming up short, the effort was apparent, a positive sign of things to come. 

The Dolphins will take Marillac Field for the first time this season on Saturday In a non-conference matchup with Delaware Valley University.
