Dolphins Secure First Win In 10 Goal Victory Over DelVal

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent delivered a strong all-around performance on Saturday afternoon for their first win of the season, defeating Delaware Valley Aggies 16-6 at Marillac Field. The Dolphins controlled the pace throughout the contest, using a balanced offensive attack and consistent scoring runs in each quarter to secure the victory.

The Dolphins improved their record to 1-3 on the season.

Nigel Walker ed the offensive effort with a three goal performance, giving him six on the season. The sophomore scored two of the three strikes in a dominant second quarter that saw UMSV take charge for good.

Several Dolphins contributed multiple goals, including Sam Hall, Jaylin Johnson, Brandon Mestres and Isaac Parsons. Marquis Gardner, Mattias Remes, Alfred Lamptey, Harrison Chapman and Thomas Vallely rounded out the scoring attack with one goal apiece as well.

Chai Dunlap did a tremendous job setting up his teammates with a game-high four assists while Vallely added a pair.

In addition to his scoring efforts, Mestres led the charge defensively with four caused turnovers to go along with three ground balls. Vallely and Jakob Mahon had three caused turnovers each while Walker and Sergio Romero collected two apiece. Max recorded four saves in the winning effort.

Faceoffs continued to be an area of strength for the Dolphins. The team as a whole went 18-for-22, with Lamptey setting the tone with 14 wins in 17 tries. Cal Denier, Frantz Pascal and Nathanial Simpson combined to go four for five.

Overall, the Dolphins' depth, possession battle and offensive balance proved to be the difference. They'll look to keep up their winning ways on Monday back at home against Cairn.
