Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was back competing in the Sharp Center for the second straight night, this time challenging St. Joseph's University Long Island in a Skyline Conference battle. Unlike the victory over Yeshiva, the Dolphins instead fell to the Golden Eagles in three sets (22-25, 10-25, 17-25).
The end result dropped UMSV to 6-11 on the year and 2-6 in conference play.
Raeden Nieves collected double digit kills for the 10th straight contest, this time registering 11 to lead the Dolphins.
Tyler Hanna had six of his own, while
Jose Dominguez added five.
Christian Ferrer 22 assists helped set up UMSV all evening long, while
Ethan Castro and
Roel Lucero combined for nine digs. Hanna also impressed at the net with four blocks.
Despite the end result, UMSV once again went toe-to-toe with the Skyline's premiere team. The Dolphins and Golden Eagles traded leads all throughout the first set, with the home team leading 20-19. They were as close as 23-22 before SJLI emerged victorious to set the tone the rest of the way.
The Dolphins set their sights on Manhattanville University, who they challenge on Thursday.
