Riverdale, NY – The University of Mount Saint Vincent bounced back in a competitive four-set match, closing it out three sets to one (25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 26-24) to secure the win inside the Sharp Center. The Dolphins showed resilience after dropping the second set, battling through tight rallies and capitalizing at key moments to take the third and fourth.
It was also yet again a complete team effort for a UMSV squad that improved their record to 3-5 on the year.
Offensively,
Jose Dominguez was a standout, leading the Dolphins with 16 kills and contributing four service aces, anchoring the Dolphins attack.
Raeden Nieves backed him up strongly, with the reigning Skyline Rookie of the Week chipping in 13 kills and adding nine digs while
Tyler Hanna continued to be a consistent force with 11 kills and defensive support at the net. Their ability to generate points from multiple hitters kept the Dolphins steady as the match tightened in the later sets.
At the net, contributions from
Yestro Luciano Jr. and
Christian Ferrer helped stabilize the team's blocking and transition game. Speaking of Ferrer, the first year setter had his best performance to date
, pacing the Dolphins with 40 assists, orchestrating the offense effectively.
Dominguez and Nieves chipped in with several digs, helping Mount Saint Vincent extend rallies and maintain momentum from the back row. Freshmen liberos
Quinn Hohbein and
Roel Lucero combined for 11 digs as well.
Across the four sets, the Dolphins mixed aggressive attacking with disciplined defense, enabling them to swing close sets in their favor and finish with a strong showing.
