Dolphins Battle to Scoreless Draw in Defensive Showcase

Bronx, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent men's soccer team turned in a fantastic defensive performance on Wednesday night, battling the Merchant Marine Academy to a 0–0 draw. The Dolphins controlled large stretches of play, particularly in the second half, and created several dangerous chances late, but were unable to find the breakthrough goal.

Defensive Backbone
At the heart of UMSV's effort was a disciplined back line, anchored by Jacob Greiffenberger, who played all 90 minutes with composure and grit. Time and again, Greiffenberger cut off counterattacks, organized his teammates, and cleared dangerous balls to keep the Mariners at bay. Behind him, goalkeeper Samuel Reine made two steady saves, earning the clean sheet and keeping the Dolphins in position to win throughout the match.

Midfield Spark
The midfield was driven by Jose Gonzalez, whose energy and distribution dictated tempo in the middle of the park. Gonzalez not only connected the Dolphins' possession play but also pushed the attack forward with dangerous balls into the final third. His work rate and creativity consistently put Merchant Marine under pressure, helping UMSV outshoot their opponents 11–6.

Chances in the Closing Minutes
The Dolphins nearly stole the game in the final five minutes, generating multiple chances as Marti SenyerWilliam Sornin, and Gonzalez all found space to test the Mariners' defense. Despite quality looks, including four shots on goal overall, the ball wouldn't find the back of the net, and the final whistle confirmed the deadlock.

Looking Ahead
While disappointed not to claim all three points, the Dolphins will take pride in a shutout performance that highlighted their defensive resilience and attacking potential. UMSV will look to carry that momentum into their next Skyline matchup as they Travel to Sarah Lawrence, aiming to get back to their winning ways and continue climbing the conference table.
