Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was right back on Marillac Field on Wednesday, as they looked to capitalize on a draw with a strong RPI team. The Dolphins did just that in an impress 4-0 victory over the City College of New York to improve their overall record to 2-1-1 in the early goings of the season.
It was all Dolphins for the duration of the contest. The offense impressed with 28 total shots, with 17 reaching the Beavers goalkeeper.
Eva Puentes was the star of the show in the first half, as the Garwood, New Jersey native recorded a hat trick within the first 19 minutes of action to put her team on top for the remainder of regulation. Both
Aiyanna Robles Sedano and
Lily Ostiguy forced their way towards the net to assist on two of the three points.
The defense did a tremendous job stifling the CCNY offense, with multiple units cutting off the Beavers at every chance. Junior goalkeeper
Kaitlyn Grady received the start in net for the Dolphins and didn't see any shots her way.
Mia Del Rosario got in the action in the second half as well. The junior recorded her first goal of the year at the 74:28 mark, with
Ima Kellerman recording the helper.
Freshman
Michelle Zuniga led the way with four total shots, while Puentes and Del Rosario each had three on goal.
The Dolphins open Skyline Conference play on Saturday against Maritime College as they begin their quest towards the postseason.
