Poughkeepsie, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was finally back on the pitch after a long layoff, with two cancellations affecting the team's stretch of games since the season opener on August 31. The Dolphins set their sights on Poughkeepsie to challenge #23 Vassar College in a strong non-conference showdown. The Brewers got the best of UMSV, scoring three first half goals, leading to a 3-1 victory.
The Dolphins are now 1-1 to start the 2025 campaign.
The lone goal of the day came off the foot of
Jazzlyn Cedillo, who scored her first career collegiate goal on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore
Julianna Agueci placed the ball in a good enough spot to Cedillo, resulting in an assist.
The Dolphins were led by freshman
Kerrigyn Lynam, who paced the team with three total shot attempts. Despite the end result, UMSV plated Vassar close, as they had the same amount of shots on goal with five.
Javiera Sanchez picked up a pair of saves in the loss.
The Dolphins will head to Marillac Field for the first time this season when they take on RPI on Tuesday evening.
