Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins are back in the dance.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent wrapped up their regular season on Saturday afternoon - and despite falling to Old Westbury in both games of a double header, they punched their ticket in the Skyline Conference Postseason Tournament. It's the third consecutive season UMSV gets the chance to challenge for a championship, each run coming under head coach
Kevin Carbon.
While seeding isn't finalized, the Dolphins are currently slotted in as the sixth seed with a rematch against the Panthers from this weekend on the horizon.
UMSV finished 9-9 in conference play with an overall record of 17-20.
Gracie Laukkanen is expected the get the nod for the Dolphins, giving her the biggest start in her young collegiate career. The freshman from Keizer, Oregon was the ace of the staff this season, posting a 2.44 ERA with 71 strikeouts across 15 starts this season. Her ERA and strikeout totals ranked third and sixth, respectively, among conference pitchers.
Savannah Autobee,
Elizabeth Espinosa and
Paige Staley each found levels of success on the mound in 2025 and will be rested to chip in if needed.
The Dolphins offense, meanwhile, collectively hit .312 this season. They were led by returning standout
Aaliyah Dejesus, who led the way with a .440 batting average in 34 games, with freshman
Samantha Aviles impressing in a major way with .403 batting average while earning the shortstop job. Sophomores
Paige Goerman and Miralba Sandez developed into reliable middle of the order bats, with
Chloe Hart driving in 22 runs while being the team's primary backstop.
Sabrina Colon,
Sierra Romero,
Ireyshka Lebron,
Simone Caruso and
Emma Capozucca round out a tough, battle tested lineup ready to go on Tuesday.
