Bronx, NY - It was quite the night to honor the Class of 2025.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent challenged Sarah Lawrence Collehe at Fordham University on Sunday night, looking to climb the standings while simultaneously honoring
Sabrina Colon,
Aaliyah Dejesus and
Sierra Romero in their final season with the program. The Dolphins dominated the double header, winning by a combined score of 24-0.
The victories improved UMSV's conference record to 6-6 with a week left until the Skyline tournament.
The Dolphins put together a four run first inning in game one and never looked back. After Dejesus and
Samantha Aviles reached base by a single and walk, respectively,
Paige Goerman and
Chloe Hart each recorded RBI singles. The inning was capped off by a two run triple by Romero, who started her senior night in style. Colon would add an RBI on her night as well, with a catcher's interference putting UMSV up 5-0. Aviles and
Kendra Rodriguez would plate runs in the fourth and fifth innings before Dejesus belted a two-run home run to put the cherry on top of the game one win.
Savannah Autobee was on the bump for game one, allowing just two hits while striking out four in four innings.
Paige Staley followed suit with a perfect fifth.
Dejesus went a perfect three-for-three at the plate while Romero, Goerman, Hart and Aviles had two hits apiece.
Game two saw
Gracie Laukkanen continue her tremendous 2025 campaign. The first year hurler won her fifth game of the year with a three inning, six strikeout performance.
Elizabeth Espinosa struck out a pair to finish off the Gryphons.
The Dolphins offense would score seven first inning runs, putting things out of reach immediately. The inning was highlighted by RBI from Hart, Romero, Aviles,
Emma Capozucca and
Kayla O'Connor. Capozucca, Staley and Dejesus would combine to drive three more runs in the second before Aviles capped off the terrific offensive day with an RBI double. Aviles went three-for-three at the dish with a team leading three RBI while Dejesus and O'Connor had two hits each.
The Dolphins look to keep the positive momentum on their side in a conference double header on Tuesday against Mount Saint Mary College.
