POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent played in their third consecutive non-conference game on Wednesday, following up contests against Drew University and Penn-State Abington with a road matchup against Vassar College. The Dolphins held a lead late into the action but departed Poughkeepsie with a loss, dropping the game to the Brewers by the score of 4-2.
The Dolphins now sit at 16-13 overall as they push for a spot in the Skyline Conference postseason tournament.
Vassar jumped out to a early lead, scoring a run in the first inning. The Dolphins, however, responded with two runs of their own in the sixth inning to get back on top. Junior
Will Granata scored on a throwing error, while senior
Paul Constantino singled to center field, which brought home
Andrew Farina, bringing the score to 2-1 Dolphins.
The Brewers would pull away with this game in the late innings, scoring 3 runs in the bottom half of the eighth. Granata had an impressive day at the plate, going three-for-five to bring his season average to .341. He also served as the opener for UMSV, allowing one run while striking out two in the first inning.

The Dolphins will look to get back in the win column in conference play, starting with a double header against Purchase College on Friday afternoon.
