King's Point, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was back in action on Tuesday, this time in another Skyline Conference showdown against the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The Mariners were too tough to overcome for the Dolphins, winning by the score of 23-7. The loss dropped UMSV's overall record to 5-9, including going 2-4 in conference play.
USMMA scored eight unanswered goals throughout the duration of the first quarter and added another at the start of the second. The Dolphins, however, did their best to climb back, scoring two goals within a one minute span to bring the score to 9-2. In a man advantage opportunity, junior
Ethan Fajardo would get on the board first, with freshman
Elvis Prempeh picking up the assist. Prempeh would then take things into his own hands for a strike of his own.
Prempeh would record a hat trick by the end of the third quarter, while fellow freshmen
Nigel Walker and
Marquis Gardner would get on the board as well. Walker and junior
Isaac Parsons would tally assists.
Alfred Lamptey had another standout game for UMSV, winning 10 faceoffs in 19 opportunities while leading the team with nine ground balls, continuing to add to his single season record. Nathanial SImpson found success on the faceoff dot as well, winning 60% of his opportunities in addition to four ground balls.
Jakob Mahon led the way with three caused turnovers, with freshman
Jackson Taylor adding two of his own. Starting goalkeeper
Joseph Seminatore made nine saves in the first half.
The Dolphins will look to close out their season on a high note when they challenge Maritime on Marillac Field this coming Saturday.
