King's Point, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent continued their stretch of road games on Saturday, this time challenging the United States Merchant Marine Academy after defeating Old Westbury earlier in the week. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the result didn't end in their favor, as they went on to lose to the Mariners by the score of 20-1.
UMSV, now 2-2 in the Skyline, welcome St. Joseph's University Long Island and Maritime College to Marillac Field this week.
The Dolphins struggled to get things going against a USMMA team that is undefeated in conference play.
Ella Meberg was the lone Dolphin to register a goal, making it a 6-1 game more than halfway through the first quarter. Meberg's score was her 13th this season.
Macey Forg recorded four draw controls, a caused turnover and a ground ball while
Makenna Reekie (two),
Isabella Melecio,
Molly Rowland and
Brianna Malave also forced USMMA turnovers. Reekie also led the way with seven ground balls in addition to her 21 saves.
The Dolphins will look to turn their fortunes around in Riverdale starting with a showdown against the Golden Eagles.
