Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent was back on the field on Saturday and looking to turn their Skyline fortunes around. After a tough, one goal loss to Mount Saint Mary College last Saturday, the Dolphins took on Manhattanville University, looking to bring their conference record to an even .500. That feat will have to wait for another day, as UMSV dropped the road matchup to the Valiants by the score of 21-9, bringing the team's overall record to 4-7.
It was a struggle for the Dolphins early on. Manhattanville would open the contest with an 8-0 run, one that spanned nearly the entirety of the first quarter. Freshman
Sam Hall, who has grown into a reliable offensive talent for the team, got UMSV on the board at the 1:35 mark to cut the deficit to seven.
The offensive success of the Valiants continued into the second quarter, as they outscored the Dolphins 9-3 to enter halftime up double digits. Their lead would remain until the final whisle.
The Dolphins saw three different players with multiple goals, including
Chai Dunlap,
Isaac Parsons and
Nigel Walker. Freshman
Elvis Prempeh also added a score while Parsons and
Rene Alamo each had an assist.
Alamo was all over the stat sheet, as he would lead the Dolphins in both ground balls (nine) and caused turnovers (two). FOGO
Alfred Lamptey went nine-for-15 from the faceoff dot while also having six ground balls and a caused turnover. Goaltender
Joseph Seminatore finished the final three quarters in net for the Dolphins and made 14 saves.
The Dolphins will next challenge Purchase College this coming Tuesday, with the hopes of returning to the win column.
