Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Fall to Hawks at Home

Riverdale, NY - After a long stretch of games on the road, the University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team was back on their home turf on Saturday for match up against SUNY-New Paltz. The Dolphins were looking to close out their non-conference schedule with a win, but the Hawks were too much to overcome.

Freshman Nigel Walker was the one to get things going as the New Rochelle, New York native scored the first goal of the game. New Paltz would go on to score two goals of their own, however sophomore Chai Dunlap and senior Ryan Jean-Pharuns both found the back of the net to put UMSV back on top at 3-2.

The Dolphins struggled in the second and third quarters, meanwhile the Hawks went on a massive run which left the Dolphins trailing 15-3 going into the final fifteen minutes of action. UMSV remained resilient and strung together three goals in the fourth quarter, one being freshman Logan Charboneau's first collegiate goal off of an assist from Walker.

Dunlap paced the Dolphins with a hat trick, while sophomore Alfred Lamptey led the way with 9 ground balls and won 12 battles in the faceoff X. Senior Jake Luxoro also impressed, causing 5 turnovers and scooping up 4 ground balls. Freshman Brandon Mestres also contributed, finishing with 3 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. Graduate student Joseph Seminatore registered 15 saves in goal.

The 3-5 Dolphins will take some time to regroup before conference play begins. Their first Skyline showdown is set for Wednesday, April 2, when they take on St. Joseph's University-Long Island on Marillac Field.
