Langhorne, PA - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team was on the road again for another non-conference match up against Cairn University on Thursday. A lightning delay would cut the game short, but the Dolphins returned to Riverdale with a 7-5 victory over the Highlanders.
The home team jumped to an early 2-0 lead, but UMSV immediately responded with three straight goals from freshman
Elvis Prempeh, senior
Ryan Jean-Pharuns, and sophomore
Chai Dunlap. Cairn tied things up at 3-3, until freshman
Sam Hall put the Dolphins back on top to close out the first quarter with a goal of his own.
The Highlanders responded with an early second-quarter goal to make the game 4-4, but UMSV would go on another scoring spree. An unassisted goal from sophomore
Donte Thornhill followed by two more goals from Prempeh would close out the game in favor of the Dolphins.
Prempeh recorded his third hat trick this season, to go along with two ground balls. Jean-Pharuns, Hall, freshmen
Marquis Gardner and
Nigel Walker all finished with an assist. Sophomore
Alfred Lamptey went 5-of-8 from the face-off circle and collected two ground balls.
The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday for their last non-conference game of the season against SUNY-New Paltz on Marillac Field at 11AM.
