Delhi, NY - After a tremendous win over the weekend, the University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team was back on the road on Monday. The Dolphins faced off against the Broncos of SUNY-Delhi, who would ultimately overpower UMSV 13-3.
The Broncos set the tone early, scoring the first four goals of the game, two of which were only within seconds of each other. Freshman standout
Elvis Prempeh was able to get the Dolphins on the board in the first quarter, but the home team would score another to give them a 5-1 lead after the first fifteen minutes of play.
UMSV struggled to find the back of the net in the second and third quarters, meanwhile the Broncos continued to dominate, extending their lead to 10-1 to start the fourth. The Dolphins were able to pick up the pace as sophomore midfielder
Chai Dunlap scored a goal early in the fourth quarter. Two minutes later, Prempeh would score again for the Dolphins off of an assist from senior
Rene Alamo.
Prempeh finished with two goals and 7 ground balls, while Dunlap added a goal and 4 ground balls. Freshman
Brandon Mestres impressed, leading the Dolphins with 4 caused turnovers, along with 4 ground balls. Fellow freshman
Leland Perez also chipped in, causing 3 turnovers and collecting two ground balls. Graduate student goalie
Joseph Seminatore finished with 9 saves, while freshman
Max Mills registered two in just fifteen minutes.
The Dolphins are back in action on Thursday, March 20, as they play their third consecutive away game at Cairn University.
