Dolphins Dominate Lehman on the Road

Bronx, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's baseball team returned to the win column on Thursday in dominating fashion. After a tremendous win over Lehman College, the Dolphins are now 3-2 on the season.

UMSV put up 24 runs on an impressive 18 hits and wasted no time, scoring two first-inning runs. Junior Joshua McCormick got things started with a double to right field. McCormick would go on to steal third and eventually score as senior Jason Albert got on base. Graduate student Joey DiNorcia then hit a sacrifice fly which drove in Albert.

The Dolphins broke the game open in the second inning scoring 11 runs with Albert and sophomore Zach Turko registering hits, along with four consecutive doubles from junior Will Granata, senior Dom Porto, DiNorcia, and McCormick. UMSV continued to dominate in the third scoring 7 runs off of 4 hits, once again from Turko, Porto, and McCormick. Senior Conor Martin also made an impact, singling to center field to send in two runs.

The Lightning were able to contain the Dolphins in the fourth inning, but UMSV answered in the fifth as Martin would hit a two-run homer to left field.

The Dolphins generated an impressive 20 RBIs, with Martin, Porto, and McCormick leading the way with 4 each, while DiNorcia chipped in 3. Porto and McCormick also led UMSV in hits with three. Left-handed pitcher Tristen Leone was rewarded the first win of his collegiate career, striking out two of the four batters he faced.

The Dolphins will look to keep their momentum going on Saturday, March 15, in a non-conference doubleheader against John Jay College.
