Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

UMSV Secures Win at Home

Riverdale, NY - It was an exciting night in the Sharp Center as the men's basketball team took on the Old Westbury Panthers. It was an all-around team effort as Coach James Mooney saw four Dolphins finish the night scoring in double figures. The Dolphins did not disappoint their home crowd and came out with an 82-76 victory.

The Dolphins came out ready to go with back-to-back baskets from freshmen duo Eric Woodberry and Blake Salice-Mitchell. The Panthers were able to respond, even seeing a lead of their own, however a personal 7-0 run from sophomore Alex Chi gave the Dolphins the momentum they needed to keep their lead for the remainder of the first half.

The Panthers did not let up in the second half and cut the Dolphins lead to only one point. A jumper from junior transfer Max DePina along with a big three pointer from sophomore Louis Vidal would help put the Dolphins back on top. Vidal would finish the night with 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The final five minutes of play was a back-and-forth battle, but clutch free throws from freshman Aidan McCahey would secure the win for the Dolphins. The Pearl River native impressed with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Graduate DJ Tucker also stuffed the stat sheet for the Dolphins with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

DePina led the Dolphins in points (14) and rebounds (9). Chi continued his impressive stretch of games with 11 points and 4 assists. Woodberry also finished with 11 points in just 10 minutes of action. Junior Josiah Basket added 10 points of his own, while Salice-Mitchell put up 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Dolphins will be back on their home court Saturday afternoon for another Skyline Conference battle against Manhattanville.
