Riverdale, NY - In their first home game of the season, the University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team faced off against Moravian University of Pennsylvania. The non-conference game was controlled by the visiting Greyhounds as they would come out on top 19-6.
The Dolphins struggled to adjust as Moravian set the tone early with seven goals in the first fifteen minutes of action, while UMSV remained scoreless. However, the Dolphins were able to pick up the pace on both ends of the field. Skyline Rookie of the Week,
Elvis Prempeh, gave the Dolphins the first two goals they would see in the second quarter, while strong defense allowed only three goals by the Greyhounds. UMSV would go on to score two more goals in the third, while also giving up three. With a 13-4 lead to start the fourth, Moravian continued their strong play scoring three straight until a UMSV goal from freshman
Sam Hall. The Greyhounds would go on to outscore the Dolphins 6-2 to secure their win.
Prempeh finished with a hat trick, while fellow freshmen
Nigel Walker and Hall each had a goal of their own. Junior
Isaac Parsons added three ground balls, a goal and an assist. Sophomore
Alfred Lamptey led the Dolphins in ground balls with 7, while sophomore
Nathanial Simpson and junior
Walker Moore had three each. Graduate student
Joseph Seminatore registered 12 saves, while Skyline Defender of the Week,
Brandon Mestres, recorded four caused turnovers.
The Dolphins will look to bounce back this Saturday, March 1, as they head to Delaware Valley University for another non-conference showdown.
