Dolphins Protect Home Court Against Bears

Riverdale, NY - After coming off of a dominant win against Sarah Lawrence, the Dolphins picked up right where they left off. The Dolphins would come out with a 74-53 victory on Tuesday evening against St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn. The Dolphins had 10 players in the scoring column, four of which finished in double digits.

Coach Maria Nardulli's Dolphins once again took pride on the defensive end holding the Bears to under 20% shooting from three the entire game. The Dolphins came out strong in the first quarter holding St. Joe's to just 8 points, while putting up 21 of their own. The Bears responded with 25 second-quarter points, however the Dolphins remained ahead going into halftime. Relentless defense from UMSV held the Bears to only 11 points in the third and 9 in the fourth.

Transfer Erin Smith led the Dolphins in scoring with 15 along with 5 assists, 3 rebounds and a pair of steals. Freshman Grace Kennedy added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Graduate captain Kayla Hanley filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Sophomore Michaela Ligon was the fourth Dolphin in double digits with a career-high 10 points and 9 rebounds.

Keep an eye out for the Dolphins as they look to extend their winning streak to 3 as they take on the College of Old Westbury on February 15th.
