Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent took the Sharp Center floor for the third straight game, this time playing host to Brooklyn College as the team looked for their first win of the 2025-26 season. The underhanded Dolphins fought until the final whistle, but their comeback attempt fell short. UMSV ultimately fell to the Bulldogs 69-63, bringing their overall record to 0-5 this season.
UMSV, down starters
Alex Chi,
Joel Gado,
Aidan McCahey and
Blake Salice-Mitchell, fought Brooklyn all afternoon.
Eric Woodberry, who led the team with 31 minutes, paced the Dolphins with 20 points before fouling out in the final minute of action. Junior
Louis Vidal put together a strong afternoon with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks, while
James Bolton added eight points and four boards on four-of-six shooting in his first collegiate start.
Sophomore
Jack Hayward provided a steadying presence off the bench, adding seven points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal while playing nearly the entire second half. Classmate
Nick Rivera had five rebounds in two assists in his first career start as well.
UMSV once again fell into an early hole to start the game, but they continuously chipped away. Bolton, James Brennan,
Gerard Novello and
Tyler Conlee each hit baskets to make it a one possession game at various points in the first half.
Despite seeing the Bulldogs lead balloon to double digits, the Dolphins remained focused on a victory. A layup by Woodberry at the 6:48 mark made it a nine point game, and a layup in the ensuing possession by the Greenburgh native put the Dolphins within six. They would get as close as four points when Vidal knocked down a pair of free throws at the 57 second mark, but Brooklyn knocked down clutch free throws to secure the win.
UMSV returns to the road after Thanksgiving break when they challenge Hunter College on December 2.
