Purchase, NY - The Dolphins are not only back in the win column, but did so for the first time against a Skyline rival.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent snapped a four game skid on Saturday when they earned their first conference win of the year over Purchase College. The Dolphins impressed throughout the three-set sweep, winning by the scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-13.
UMSV is now 7-9 overall this season with a 1-1 record in Skyline play.
Five separate Dolphins had four or more kills against the Panthers, starting with the impressive first-year duo of
Anna Nolasco and
Alyssa Padgett, who each had eight kills. Junior
Dominique Otranto added five of her own while
Sienna Martin and
Sophia Mandalakis and four apiece.
Padgett, Otranto and Mandalakis were specifically efficient, hitting .889, .714 and .571, respectively.
Stephanie Rodriguez continued her season long trend of a robust stat line. The freshman setter had 25 assists, nine digs, three service aces and two kills.
Paige Staley added a team-best 10 digs while Carly Synder led the charge with six service aces, bringing her season total to 23.
"I was very happy with the win today. Our last four matches were really tough, so it was great to get back on track," said head coach
Joseph Chojnacki. "It was a great team effort. We did all the things we needed to be successful: hit for a high percentage, serve well and pass well in serve receive. It was a great way to finish the week."
The Dolphins will look to keep the momentum in their favor with a home tilt on Thursday against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
