Dolphins Top Valiants On Road, Improve To 7-0-2 Against Skyline

Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent hit the road to Purchase with the hopes of remaining unbeaten against the Skyline - and they did just that.

Manhattanville University became the latest team to fall victim to the Dolphins, as UMSV continued their unbeaten streak in a 3-2 victory over the Valiants. It was a complete effort by a Dolphins team that has contiuned to come through in the clutch on both ends of the field, with Wednesday night's game being no exception.

UMSV improved to 7-0-2 in conference play, giving them sole possession of first place in the standings.

William Sornin has put together a tremendous sophomore campaign for the Dolphins, and the contest against Manhattanville was no exception. The striker from Brussels, Belgium kicked things off with a goal just 49 seconds into play, good for his fourth of the year. The Valiants would tie things up at one just 20 minutes later, but Sornin would help give his team another edge shortly thereafter. Sebastian Ciurlizza was on the receiving end of a Sornin pass at the 28 minute mark, and the junior capitalized to make it a 2-1 game.

UMSV once again would strike early, this time off the foot of Jose Gonazlez. The transfer from Maritime took it all by himself for his second strike of the season, improving UMSV's lead to 3-1 just two minutes into the second half. The Valiants would cut the deficit to one with 38 minutes in regulation, but the unit of John Brienza, Sean Doyle, Jacob Grieffenberger and Trevor Pegg helped shut down Manhattanville's offense, allowing just one shot on goal the rest of the way.

Samuel Reine collected two saves in the win, giving him 40 on the year.

The Dolphins look to close out their season on a high note, as they challenge Yeshiva University and Purchase College on the road as they gear up for the conference tournament.
