Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team was back on the road Wednesday evening looking to secure a Skyline Conference win against Purchase College. The Panthers came out on top of the back and forth battle, 67-58. Despite the outcome, junior
Max DePina recorded his second double-double of the season scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Dolphins made their presence felt early on. Four straight points from
Alex Chi and a layup from freshman
Blake Salice-Mitchell would give the Dolphins a 6-0 lead to start the game. Strong defense from the Dolphins held the Panthers to only six points in the first eight minutes of action. It was certainly a game of runs for both teams with the score tied 29-29 at halftime.
The visiting Dolphins would see their last lead of the game with 5:08 to play. A late 7-0 run by the Panthers was too much for the Dolphins to overcome in the final minutes.
Junior
Josiah Basket continued his strong season for the Dolphins finishing the night with 11 points and 4 rebounds. In only his second collegiate start, Salice-Mitchell also impressed with 10 rebounds, 8 points, two steals and two blocks.
Alex Chi added 9 points, 3 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, this time on their home court against Maritime College.
