Riverdale, NY - The Dolphins' skid against tough conference opponents continued on Sunday afternoon. Despite strong efforts over the course of the week, UMSV struggled against a tough Yeshiva University team, dropping the contest 2-0 on Marillac Field. The result put the Dolphins at 6-3-2 on the year after kicking off 2024 undefeated across 10 contests.
The loss wasn't due to a lack of effort on the Dolphins end. They displayed their high octane offense and physical play against the Maccabees, with UMSV out-shooting theor opponents 21-10 while also registering more fouls (15-11).
The Maccabees scored one goal in each half, with goalkeeper
Samuel Reine making three saves in 90 minutes of action. Defender
Trevor Pegg led the way with five shots while
William Sornin, Sebastian Ciurlizza and
Amos Bignotti registered three apiece.
The Dolphins had plenty of scoring chances, including a second half that saw the home team take five shots on goal off the feet of top offensive talents Ciurlizza and Bignotti.
UMSV will turn their attention to Springfield College, who make their way to Riverdale on Wednesday evening.
