Dolphins Drop First Game Of Season To Manhattanville

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's winning streak has come to an end.

The Dolphins, who kicked off their 2024 campaign winners in six of eight games with ties in two others, dropped their highly-anticipated 2023 Skyline Conference semifinal rematch to Manhattanville University. UMSV jumped out to an early on goal advantage, but a Valiants goal right before halftime turn the tide in favor of the visitors.

Javier Trujillo continued to add to his team-best goal mark. The Rio Rancho, New Mexico native took it all by himself, good for his eighth goal of the season, to put the Dolphins up at the 30 minute mark.

Despite playing solid defense, Manhattanville surged towards the net with just 18 seconds remaining in the first half and converted to tie things up at one goal apiece.

The Valiants kept the pressure up for a majority of the second half. The visitors would take seven second half shots, with freshman goalkeeper Samuel Reine making multiple doorstep saves. Unfortunately for the first-year talent, the Valiants would find themselves with a four-on-three advantage just steps away from the front of the net, resulting in the final goal of the contest.

The Dolphins would receive multiple chances of their own but failed to put one on net.

UMSV will take a break from conference action and challenge Lehman College at home on Thursday.
