Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Top Knights, Remain Undefeated In Conference Play

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team returned to Marillac Field on Saturday - and not only did they even their overall record to 3-3 but remained undefeated in Skyline Conference competition. Eva Puentes' first half strike was good enough to keep the team in front for good, as the Dolphins walked away with a one goal win over Mount Saint Mary College.

The first half featured a UMSV squad that largely resembled last year's championship team. Both ends of the field were dominated by the Dolphins, with the team taking five first half shots whiling stifling the Knights offense. At the 11:32 mark, the Dolphins received a free kick at the bottom of the Knights box. Junior Dana DeDominicis saw her attempt bounce off a Knights defender, with Puentes locating the ball immediately to secure the first goal of her second season in Riverdale.

The second half, however, would see Mount Saint Mary turn up the intensity, specifically on offense. Junior goalkeeper Javiera Sanchez found herself on the receiving end of two back-to-back shots within feet of her, and the Fredericksberg, Virginia native would turn away both attempts to keep her team on top. At the other end of the field, Puentes would continue to pepper opportunities at the Knights. She would lead the team in both shots (five) and shots on goal (three), with two of her attempts hitting the cross bar.

Alicia Rodriguez and Brittany Boyle would also have chances to score, while Maddie Halford and Lily Ostiguy led a back line that kept the Knights in check.

UMSV will have yet another playoff rematch from a season ago in their sights. Farmingdale makes their way to Riverdale on Wednesday for an important Skyline contest.
