Bignotti Nets Four, Powers Dolphins Past Purchase

Riverdale, NY - The first Skyline Conference contest is in the books, and the University of Mount Saint Vincent walked away winners. The Dolphins played host to Purchase College on Wednesday evening, opening up conference play for the first time in 2024. UMSV remains undefeated, with their 6-3 victory resulting in the team's record improving to 5-0-3.

Freshman Amos Bignotti, who was been a standout performer for the Dolphins across eight contests, had his best night to date. The freshman from Fairfield, Connecticut exploded for four goals against the Panthers, serving as the driving force behind the victory.

The first one for Bignotti was a fast one, as he would put his team on the board in just the second minute. Sophomore Trevor Pegg would pick up the assist with a strong crosser from the other end of the box. The Panthers, to their credit, would respond almost immediately, tying things up just five minutes later.

UMSV would regain the lead at the 16:19 mark. Sebastian Mesa was on the receiving end of a penalty shot and converted to make it a 2-1 game. Bignotti would get on the board for the second time just seven minutes later, with Javier Trujillo registering the assist. The Panthers would cut the Dolphins lead to one, but Bignotti would take things into his own hands, carrying the ball for yards on the opposite end of the field to secure the first half hat trick.

The second half saw the Dolphins pick up their physicality defensively while continuing their surge on offense. Bignotti would score his fourth in the latter half of the second while Luka Gelevski would score the first goal of his collegiate career to put the cherry on top of the victory.

The Dolphins defense, with a rotating cast of Nico Carvalho, Donovan Speer, Cesar Mendez and John Brienza, among others, would allow just three second half shot attempts. Samuel Reine and Andrew Tarkazikis would split halves in net, combining for three saves.

The Dolphins will get a two day break before hitting the road for the first time all season to challenge Old Westbury.
