Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team emerged victorious for the first time in the 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon, walking away with a four set victory over the City College of New York on their home floor in a tightly contested, hard fought non-conference matchup. UMSV is now 1-4 across the first five games of the season with yet another home match on the horizon.
Each of thhe four sets played was decided within two points, with both the second and third sets reaching extra play. The Dolphins saw a significant amount of success from their hitters, as
Melanieann Broderick (15),
Reilly Nichtern (13) and
JaKaia Lotz (12) each posted double digit kills in the contest. Senior
Lydia Aryee continued to impress in the setter role, securing a career-best 41 assists while also posting a team-high 22 digs.
Nichtern and
Emma Contes also had double-digit digs. Broderick also had a tremendous game at the net, recording three solo blocks and a pair of assists to boot.
The Dolphins will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday when they play host to The Pratt Institute.
