Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team continued their streak of home contests, this time battling Haverford College in a non-conference showdown. The Dolphins stayed ahead for a majority of the contest, but a Fords goal with less than four minutes in regulation pushed the game to a draw, bringing UMSV's overall record to 3-0-2 in five contests.
The UMSV offense continued to surge, as they would once again get on the board early. Thanks to a foul inside the box, sophomore midfielder Sebastian Mesa was awarded a penalty kick. The Trumbull, Connecticut native buried the shot, good for his third of the season, to give his team the goal advantage just one minute into the contest.
Standout freshman
Marti Senyer would knock down his own shot attempt from just outside the box to improve his team's lead to two goals. While the offense was firing shots, the back line did their best to stifle the Fords offense. However, penalty kick by the Fords would slash UMSV's lead in half heading into the break.
Senior goalkeeper
Andrew Tarkazikis made four first half saves, a big reason behind the team's advantage.
Both sides would display physicality throughout the second half, with the two sides combining for 11 foul calls. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the Fords would find their way to the back of the net with time nearing expiration after a rebounded shot found its way back to Haverford's strikers.
The Dolphins remain undefeated, and will look to keep the streak alive on Monday against Medgar Evers.
