Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent took the Sharp Center for the first time in 2024 and looked up pick up their first win of the season over FDU-Florham. The Dolphins displayed heart all evening, but it was the Devils who would emerge victorious in straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-16).
UMSV now sits at 0-4 over their first two weeks of play.
The Dolphins put together numerous successful rallies, with none better than in the first set when they went on a five-point run to make it a 22-17 game. That stretch was highlighted by a
JaKaia Lotz ace, followed by an impressive set-kill by
Lydia Aryee.
Speaking of athletes, the junior was the team's top hitter in the loss. The Richmond, Indiana native posted a career-high eight kills to go along with nine digs, good for nine points.
Melanieann Broderick added seven kills and 15 digs to the stat line while Aryee added a game-best 20 assists. Carly Synder (11) and
Reilly Nichtern (10) also finished with double digit digs while freshman
Sophia Madalakis collected three kills and two combined blocks.
The Dolphins will look to pick up their first win of the year on Saturday. They'll once again be on their home court, this time taking on The City College of New York.
