Dolphins Swept By Bears In Skyline Opener

Brooklyn, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's Skyline schedule kicked off early this season, as the Dolphins hit the road to Brooklyn to take on St. Joseph's University for the team's first conference showdown of the season. The Dolphins battled over the course of three sets, but ultimately fell to the Bears 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.

The Dolphins are now 0-3 to begin the 2024 season.

UMSV found their most success in set two, where they led six points to five early on, and eventually 11-7. Hitters Melanieann Broderick and Reilly Nichtern added kills over that span, helping the Dolphins thrive offensively.

The duo both led the way in terms for kills for head coach Joe Chojnacki, registering nine apiece. Senior Lydia Aryee helped set up the offense, picking up 18 assists, a season-high. Sophomore middle Dominique Otranto was a force in the middle of the net as she collected five blocks while Nichtern and Aryee combined for three. Broderick also led the way with 11 digs.

The Dolphins will look to pick up their first win of the year in their home opener against FDU-Florham on Thursday.
