Jose Dos Santos Hired As New Men's Soccer Head Coach, Assistant AD

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent has its newest man to lead the charge of the men's soccer program.

Jose Dos Santos was appointed both head coach and assistant athletic director this summer after an extensive, regional search to replace former head coach Johnny Raj. Raj, who spent one year at the helm of the UMSV soccer team, was appointed associate head coach at Division-I Fairfield University earlier this summer.

"We are happy to welcome Jose to the Mount," Athletic Director Phil Stern told UMSVAthletics.com. "His success at the Division-II and club levels will translate immediately at the Division-III level. Jose's local and regional recruiting ties will enhance our men's soccer profile in a major way.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead this project to new heights. I'm looking forward to build a strong program that will be recognized not only regionally, but also nationally," stated Dos Santos. It will take time, but with hard work from the team it will be possible. I'm an extremely ambitious person, and believe my team and I will continue to bring the UMSV name out in the spotlight."

Dos Santos has vast experience in the soccer world, both as a coach in the college and clubs ranks, as well as time spent playing professionally overseas.

Dos Santos most recently spent time leading the Division-II Concordia College men's soccer program. After joining as an assistant in 2017, he was appointed head coach in 2018, a position he held until the college's closure in 2020.

Dos Santos has made his mark throughout the state at the club level, specifically with the Westchester Flames, a program he has been a part of since 2017. Dos Santos currently coaches their USL 2 Team while also leading the USL A Reserve Team and 2010 Premier Team, among others. Dos Santos has accumulated eight separate championships in both leagues and tournaments throughout his tenure, while also making an additional five finals appearances.

Dos Santos, who was born in Portugal, was the number one scorer in the conference and ranked 10th nationally during his collegiate playing days at the New York Institute of Technology. He spent time as a professional back in his home country as well as Finland, where he suited up with Anadia FC, Mogadourense FC, Capelense Sport Club and Tampere United, among others.

Dos Santos has also been a licensed FIFA agent since 2012.

Dos Santos graduated from NYIT in 2000 with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Business Administration, Behavioral Science and Communication. He currently resides in Yonkers, New York.
