Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Dolphins Drop Two In Season Opening Road Tri-Match

Jersey City, NJ - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team took the court for the first time in their 2024 campaign, with the expectations high under new leadership in first-year Dolphins head coach Joe Chojnacki. UMSV's young, talented roster got their first taste of action on Friday, struggling to keep up with John Jay and New Jersey City University, dropping both legs of the tri-match.

The Dolphins found success on the court despite the final tallies. Melanieann Broderick once again resumed her role as the team's top hitter, a position she's been known for throughout her career in Riverdale. The Bronx native led the team in kills over both games, combining for 13. She also added an impressive four aces against the Gothing Knights in addition to three against the Bloodhounds while collecting 19 digs.

JaKaia Lotz, known for her role on the women's basketball team, impressed in her first action in her new sport with four kills against NJCU and four total blocks. Senior Lydia Aryee registered 16 assists while Dominique Otranto had four kills and a pair of blocks. Sophia Madalakis impressed in her first collegiate appearances with four blocks of her own.

The Dolphins return to the court on September 10, getting a head start on Skyline Conference action against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
