Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Parsons Powers Dolphins Past Panthers

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team opened Skyline Conference play against Purchase College on Saturday - and thanks in large part to a fantastic individual effort from sophomore attackman Isaac Parsons, the Dolphins walked away with an 11-2 victory. The win improved UMSV's overall record to 5-4 through nine games and will look to be of momentum ahead of the team's Skyline showdown with the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday in Riverdale.

The Panthers struck first, scoring just a minute and 20 seconds in the action. The Dolphins, however, didn't let it deter their efforts, and instead used it in their favor. Head coach James Fitzgerald's offensive gameplan was firing on all cylinders, as the team would score two goals before the end of the first quarter, with Chai Dunlap and Mustapha Daffeh getting in the scoring column to retake the lead.

From there, it was all UMSV. The team would go on to score nine unanswered goals in the final three quarters of the game. The aforementioned Parsons would take matters into his own hands, as he would score seven straight goals of his own, resulting in one of the best individual offensive performances in program history. The Shallotte, North Carolina native's efforts were all that was needed for a Dolphins team that also shut down Purchase's offense the rest of the way.

Sophomore Rene Alamo would add two assists to his stat line while Daffeh recorded a second point with an assist of his own, in addition to going 12-of-13 on the face-off dot. The Dolphins defense would cause 13 turnovers, with senior defenseman Adrian Guillermo taking home three of his own, continuing his play as one of the best at his position in the conference. Daffeh would also record a game-high nine ground balls while Guillermo, Chris Meenan and Jake Luxoro had four each. Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Lulgjuraj made seven saves across the nine shots he faced.

While USMMA will prove to be a tough matchup for the Dolphins, the team has been on an impressive overall streak and will look to keep it up on Tuesday night.
