Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent once again took Marillac Field under rainy conditions, this time taking on Delaware Valley University in the team's final tune-up before Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins struggled throughout the second half of play, resulting in an 8-5 loss against the Aggies. UMSV wraps up non-conference action with an even 4-4 record ahead of their contest against Purchase College in Riverdale on Saturday.
The Dolphins had a strong start to the action. They played a step ahead of the Aggies on both ends of the field, resulting in an early three goal lead.
Ryan Jean-Pharuns started things off for UMSV with an unassisted score and followed that up by collecting the assist on
Jacob Cochran's first goal of the game. Freshman attackman
Chai Dunlap would score his 13
th goal of the year, giving the home team an edge early.
Delaware Valley, however, would answer, as they would cut their deficit to one goal at the conclusion of the first.
UMSV would once again get in the scoring column, with Cochran scoring his second of the afternoon. The Aggies would answer, but so too would
Savion Williams, who would give the Dolphins a two goal edge with just over eight minutes remaining in the half.
Unfortunately for UMSV, that would be the last of their scoring efforts. The Aggies would score five unanswered goals from the 3:09 mark in the second quarter up until the final buzzer to walk away with the victory.
Cochran and Jean-Pharuns would go on to pace the Dolphins with two points apiece. Sophomore long stick midfielder
Chris Meenan would collect five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while senior
Adrian Guillermo had three caused turnovers of his own, good for 17 on the season which ranks second among Skyline Conference defenders.
Mark Lulgjuraj made 10 saves across 60 minutes of action.
UMSV will look to use this as a building block ahead of their contest against the Panthers.Â
