Dolphins Fail To Get Offense Going Against Rams

Farmingdale, NY - After splitting their Skyline Conference opening series against St. Joseph's University Long Island on last week, the University of Mount Saint Vincent returned to conference action, this time taking part in a Sunday double header against Farmingdale State College out on Long Island. It was a tall task for the Dolphins, who generated just six hits across both games, resulting in losses by the scores of 10-0 and 8-0. The losses put the Dolphins at 4-15 overall, as well as a 1-3 record against the Skyline.

The Rams pitching had their way with UMSV in game one, as Farmingdale emerged victorious thanks to a no-hitter. The Dolphins reached base three times in the five innings of play, all due to hitters being hit by pitches. Sophomore Nichole Reyes and freshmen Paige Goerman and Ireyshka Lebron were the three Dolphins who found their way on the base paths. Sophomore Serena Duran and freshman Emily Cardenas split time on the mound, throwing in three innings and one inning, respectively.

Farmingdale continued their success into game two, but it wasn't for a lack of effort by the Dolphins. Two-way standout Savannah Autobee went the distance for head coach Kevin Carbon, as she allowed six earned runs across 5.1 innings. The second-year talent from Pueblo, Colorado also led the way for her team with two hits in two at-bats, including a double. Reyes, Goerman, Aaliyah Dejesus and Sierra Romero also found their way in the hit column in the loss.

The Dolphins will look to get back on track against Brooklyn College on Thursday before returning to conference play 24 hours later against Purchase.
