Women's Lacrosse Falls To Moravian At Home

Riverdale, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent returned to their home turf for the second time in the 2024 season. The Dolphins hosted Moravian University on the heels of the first win of the season against King's College (PA). UMSV couldn't pick up where they left off against the Monarchs and struggled against the Greyhounds, losing by the score of 16-6.

The Dolphins are now 1-2 to start the season.

In what has become a theme in the early portion of the season, both sides traded leads to kick things off. Sophomore Ella Meberg furthered the strong start to her career in Riverdale, scoring the first goal of the contest just two minutes into the action. After Moravian scored a pair of their own, junior Macey Forg put one past the Greyhounds keeper to tie things up at two goals apiece with 11 minutes remaining in the half.

The Greyhounds would score three more in the first quarter before Alyssa LaTorre would cut Moravian's lead to two with her fifth goal of the season. From there, the Greyhounds would go on a big run, outscoring the Dolphins 6-0 throughout the second quarter. Alicia Rodriguez would score a pair of goals in the second half, as well as Macey Forg, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome Moravian, who left campus with a 10-goal victory.

Rodriguez added nine ground balls, four draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers in the loss. Divana Carrillo and Arianna Morales would added four ground balls each while Meberg also had two assists to her stat line. The goaltender duo of Katherine Hungerford and Makenna Reekie split time in net, combining for 14 saves.

The Dolphins will look to get back on track this Tuesday when they host Marywood University at home.
