Staten Island, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent kicked off their weekend series against New York University on Saturday, playing their first of three games over the next 38 hours at SIUH Community Park on Staten Island. The Dolphins struggled offensively in the nine inning affair, putting together just two hits in the 7-0 loss. UMSV's record now sits at 2-3 through five games in their 2024 campaign.
The Dolphins offense stranded four runners on base, with only two different players reaching base.
Joey DiNorcia both singled and walked in just two at-bats while sophomore
Drew Knight hit a double and was also hit by a pitch.
Senior
Sean Kennedy got the call from head coach John Torres. The East Meadow, New York native struggled across four innings of work, as he allowed four earned runs, seven hits and a walk over that span. Classmate
Joe Decandia took the hill for the final four innings and generated three runs (two earned) and five hits while scattering four strikeouts as well.
The Dolphins have an immediate chance for revenge. They'll take on NYU in a double header starting at noon back on Staten Island.
