Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Trade Leads With Bryn Athyn, Lose Late

The game started with a quick goal Bryn Athyn, giving them momentum that would carry with the visitors in the opening mintues of the game, as the Lions would lead 2-0 over the first four minutes. The Dolphins, however, would respond, as reigning Skyline Conference Player of the Year Alicia Rodriguez scoring her first of the afternoon to cut BAC's lead in half. Junior Macey Forg would continue the strong start to the 2024 season with her own point less than two minutes later to tie the game at two. Both Rodriguez and Forg would score additional goals to give the Dolphins a 4-2 lead after one.

The Dolphins and Lions would once again trade goals, alternating three goals apiece before the break. The offense would continue through Rodriguez and Forg, as the duo would combine for the team's three goals while transfer sophomore Ella Meberg would registers helpers on two of them. Fellow transfer Makenna Reekie was in net throughout the first half of action and made five saves.

The Lions came out for the third quarter firing on all cylinders, with the visitors scoring three unanswered goals to open the half, resulting in them retaking the lead. Rodriguez and Forg, however, had other plans, as they would score before the conclusion of the third to regain the lead. Senior Alyssa LaTorre picked up the assist on Rodriguez's goal, while Rodriguez would assist Forg.

The score would continue to go back and forth, but it was Bryn Athyn who would score last to secure the win. Rodriguez had a chance to tie things up as time expired, but didn't have enough time to get to the other end of the field after scooping a ground ball in her own zone.

Rodriguez would finish the day with five goals and an assist, in addition to nine ground balls, five draw controls and five caused turnovers. Forg would shine in her own right, leading the team with six goals in six shot attempts. LaTorre would add four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Arianna Morales and Sariah Stephens had a pair of caused turnovers as well. Senior Katherine Hungerford would finish the second half in net for UMSV and make eight saves in 14 tries.

The Dolphins will remain on Marillac Field this coming Tuesday in a non-conference matchup against Ramapo College.
