Dolphins Swept In Second Day Of Myrtle Beach Trip

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Myrtle Beach, SC - The University of Mount Saint Vincent looked to continue their strong string of games to start the 2024 season, this time taking on Vermont State Castleton, the University of Minnesota-Morris and SUNY-Delhi in the second day of the Myrtle Beach Spring Tournament. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, their second win of the year will have to wait, as they dropped all three games by the scores of 8-9, 9-0 and 5-2.

Vermont State Castleton got off to a quick start in the first inning as they got on the board due to a triple and wild pitch, as well as an RBI single, to make the score 2-0. Both teams were held scoreless in the second inning, but the Spartans would extend their lead to four in the bottom half of the third.

The Spartans offense continued to roll, scoring four more runs to walk away with the 8-0 win. The Dolphins failed to get anything going on that side of the game, with outfielders Aaliyah Dejesus and Simone Caruso being the lone players to register hits.

It didn't get easier in the second game against the University of Minnesota-Morris. UMSV would once again only record two hits, this time coming off the bats of Sierra Romero and Paige Goerman. Savannah Autobee pitching in the first two games of the day - first as the starter agains the Spartans, and then in relief of sophomore Serena Duran against the Cougars.

The Dolphins will close out their trip with games against both SUNY Poly and Keene state on Sunday and Monday.
