Purchase, NY - The University of Mount Saint Vincent entered Saturday winners of three straight contest, the perfect time to go on a hot streak as they kicked off Skyline Conference play against Manhattanville University. The Dolphins extend their streak to four straight victories when they left Kennedy Gymnasium winners by the score of 78-69.
The win improved UMSV's overall record to 4-3.
DJ Tucker has been the driving force of the team all season long, and Saturday was no different. The graduate student put together a strong performance that saw him record 17 points, nine assists and five rebounds to go along with a block and a steal, as the Boynton Beach, Florida native continued to make a positive impact on both sides of the floor.
The Dolphins, however, were led by senior
Kevin Agyemang, with the guard leading the way with 19 points on 50% shooting. He also tied for the team lead with seven boards as well as two steals. First year Dolphin
Josiah Basket knocked down four three point attempts, good enough for a 18 point, seven rebound performance. Big
Max DePina added 13 points of his own while senior
Adrian Rraci game off the bench and contributed five points and four rebounds.
Tucker opened the contest with a layup off a pass from Basket, and the Dolphins lead in the first seconds of the contest would remain until the final whistle. UMSV would see their lead balloon to as many as 19 points in the second half, as the Dolphins would shoot 46% from the floor and 36% from beyond the arc. The defense, too, was stout, as they would force seven Manhattanville turnovers. Four different Dolphins would record at least one steal in the game.
UMSV continues to find ways to win in the early portion of the season. They'll look to keep their hot streak alive on Monday when they hit the road to New Jersey to challenge Centenary University.
