Providence, RI - The University of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team dropped their first game of the 2024 season on Saturday in a high scoring, back and forth contest to Johnson & Wales. Despite the end result, head coach
Maria Nardulli saw two of her talents - graduate student
Erin Smith and transfer sophomore
Gretta Baker - put together terrific performances, as the duo had over 20 points each in the contest.
Smith put together her second straight strong outing to kick off her first season in Riverdale. The guard poured in 23 points while adding three rebounds and a pair of steals, resulting in a spot on the Skyline Conference's Honor Roll for the week of November 11-17.
Baker, meanwhile, led all scorers with an impressive 28 points scored, including knocking down four-of-nine from beyond the arc. The Portland, Oregon native also grabbed four boards as well.
Junior
JaKaia Lotz had a six point, six rebound performance while
Kayla Hanley and
Sharon Brown tied for the team-lead with three assists apiece.
Nailea Green came off the bench and made great use of her minutes, as she would grab seven boards, a UMSV high.
The Dolphins enter Skyline Conference action for the first time this season on Wednesday night when they travel to nearby Purchase College to take on the Panthers.
