Purchase, NY - The first conference play date was an absolute success for the Dolphins.
The University of Mount Saint Vincent opened Skyline play on Wednesday evening, taking a short road trip to Purchase College to challenge the Panthers in a rare November conference showdown. The Dolphins, who entered preseason as the top ranked Skyline team, showed exactly what they received the honor, as they went on to win by the impressive score of 79-34.
The victory improved UMSV's record to 2-1 on the year.
The Dolphins were once again paced by the impressive duo tandem of
Erin Smith and
Gretta Baker. The duo has become go-to options for head coach
Maria Nardulli in the early portion of the season, and tonight was no exception.
Baker once again paced the Dolphins in scoring with 16 points while Smith had 13 of her own. But it's not just points that the pair have contributed; Baker added five rebounds, four steals and three assists to her stat line while Smith recorded a team best seven assists and six boards while tying Baker in the steals column.
Junior
Julia Angeles had an extremely efficient night on the offensive end, as she would knock down four-of-five shots attempts to go along with two rebounds and two steals.
JaKaia Lotz was a force on the boards with eight rebounds to go along with eight points while
AB Burnett had six points and three boards of her own.
The Dolphins will look to keep their winning ways in tact on Saturday against Manhattanville in a rematch of the 2024 Skyline Conference Championship final.
