Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Dominate Kean University For First Win In 2023

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer game played in the first ever contest under the lights, and made it count in front of their home faithful. The Dolphins put on a clinic on both ends of the field as they went on to handedly defeat the Kean University Cougars by the score of 3-0. The victory is the first for head coach Stuart Dick and his program in the 2023 season.

It was just eight minutes into the contest when the Dolphins would strike first. Sophomore striker Victoria Gamarra picked up where she left off in 2022 as she fought off two defenders to put one past the Cougars goalkeeper to give the Dolphins their first lead of the evening. In just under 11 minutes later, junior standout Alicia Rodriguez converted her first shot attempt of the season to give the team a two-goal edge, a lead they held until regulation.

While the offense was aggressive, the defense was stout. The back line of Dana DeDominicis, Cameron Cruz and Gisselle Soria, along with midfielders Arianna Morales and Caitlyn Thompson, stifled the Cougars offense, allowing just six total shots. Goalkeeper Brooke Frierson made saves on the only two shots that reached her.

Right as the clock was to strike zero, Gamarra put one last goal into the net to make it a 3-0 victory.

The freshman Thompson recorded assists on both of Gamarra's goals, while Gamarra herself picked up a helper on Rodriguez's first of the season.

The Dolphins now set their sights on Wilkes University, who come to campus this Sunday.
