Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Dolphins Go Toe To Toe With FDU, Lose In Four Sets

Madison, NJ - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team saw an overhaul this offseason - and with new leadership combined with a new roster, the Dolphins made their way to New Jersey to show what they could do. Despite the losing outcome, CMSV went toe-to-toe with FDU-Florham, winning the second set 25-20 before the match ending in four.

As a whole, the Dolphins paced the contest in kills (46-36), assists (44-31) and digs (78-71).

Senior standout Melanieann Broderick returned to her role as the team's top hitter, leading the way with a game-high 17 kills to go along with 10 digs and three block assists. Outside hitter Elizabeth Flores returned opposite of Broderick and had an impressive first contest with seven kills, 13 digs, two assists and a service ace. Classmate Isabella Garcia paced the Dolphins with 28 digs in her fourth season as libero, while also adding seven assists.

For as well as the returners did, so too did the first year influx of talent. Adelina Elezaj, Jocelyn Castro and Nicole Sullivan each earned the start for Marcus Davila's team, with the trio impressing in different areas. Elezaj finished second on the team in kills with 12 while also chipping in with 12 digs, two service aces and a pair of block assists. Sullivan set up her teammates fantastically, as she dished out 34 assists in her collegiate debut. Castro added five kills to the stat sheet.

The Dolphins will look to pick up their first win on Wednesday when they take on John Jay College at home.
