Riverdale, NY - After going .500 to being their season, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team opened Skyline Conference play on Wednesday evening. St. Joseph's University Long Island came to Riverdale, with both teams looking to pick up their first conference victory of the 2023 season. It was a tightly contested battle throughout, with the Golden Eagles scoring a game-leading goal in the final minute to walk away with the 13-12 win.
Both the Dolphins and Golden Eagles traded leads throughout the early goings of the game. After St. Joe's jumped out to an early one goal lead, freshman attackman
Isaac Parsons got his team on the board with a goal of his own. The Golden Eagles would close out the first quarter with a 2-1 lead, but CMSV would respond in a major way to open the second quarter.
Junior midfielder
Jacob Cochran would take a clearing opportunity to the house, scoring his 11th goal of the year, with an assist going to goaltender

Andrew Dzubak would add a pair of goals to his team leading total to give his team a two goal edge. The young Dolphins roster would surrender six straight goals to the Golden Eagles to close out the half, bringing the score to 8-4 in favor of the visitors.
The third quarter was a back and forth affair, as both teams would trade points.
Ryan Jean-Pharuns scored his 10th goal of the season to open the quarter, with Dzubak and Cochran following suit. St. Joe's would score four of their own, bringing the score to 12-8 entering the fourth. It was there where
James Fitzgerald's team picked up the pace. For the next 14 minutes, the Dolphins would go on a four goal run, led by Dzubak, Cochran and freshman
Richie Albert, with Dzubak's goal with less than three minutes to go tying the game at 12. After the Golden Eagles connected on a goal to take the late lead, CMSV had mutiple scoring chances as time expired but couldn't get one past the opposing goaltender.
Cochran and Dzubak combined for nine of the team's 12 goals while also adding a pair of assists. Parsons led the Dolphins with six ground balls. Cochran and fellow midfielder Renee Alamo impressed with 10 combined caused turnovers, with junior
Adrian Guillermo and freshman
Walker Moore added three each. Sophomore defenseman
Jake Luxoro scooped five ground balls as well.
The Dolphins will look to return to the win column on Tuesday when they take on Purchase College.
